Self-hosted GitLab on AWS.

A single GitLab instance on AWS for 100+ developers — repositories, projects, CI/CD pipelines and user access — running at under $100/month and optimised to ~$70/month.

01 · PROBLEM

100+ developers, one budget.

The studio needed source control, projects, CI/CD and user access for more than 100 developers. Per-seat SaaS pricing grows with every new hire.

02 · SETUP

GitLab on EC2, done properly.

Deployed GitLab on AWS EC2 with a custom domain and SSL, then set up repositories, projects, CI/CD pipelines and user access for every team.

03 · COST

Under $100, then ~$70.

It launched under $100/month and was optimised to around $70/month — a flat infrastructure cost instead of a fee for each developer.

04 · RESULT

One home for all code.

100+ developers work from one self-hosted GitLab, with pipelines that deploy Django and Next.js apps and games to AWS and Vercel.
